Rescue Dog Honey
After losing her leg in trap, Honey was in incredible pain and needed help
Honey was found severely wounded and in horrible pain on a roadside in Vietnam. Most likely victim to an animal trap used to catch animals for the meat trade, Honey was able to escape and drag herself away. A tourist spotted her, called us for help and our partner Paws for Compassion was able to spring to action. Honey was in a horrible state: her hind limb had been torn off, leaving her bone exposed, causing incredible pain to the poor dog.
Honey was about to go into shock because of her injury, and was rushed for emergency surgery, and received antibiotics, and pain control. Due to the extent of her injury, the leg had to be amputated. Honey is now in the care of our rescue partner, recovering well, but still very traumatised from this experience. It took her a few days to build up the energy and appetite to eat, but she is looking brighter and getting her strength back every day.
However, she still has a long road to go, and is currently on antibiotics and receives daily wound care. Her nursing care is intensive and we are hopeful that she will adjust to her life on three legs, as well as find a loving home within Vietnam.
